This project was a true transformation from the inside out—a full gut remodel taken all the way down to the studs. Walls were moved, rooms were reimagined, and the entire layout was thoughtfully reconfigured before being built back up into a home that feels both intentional and inviting. One of the most dramatic changes was turning an oversized living room into the heart of the home: a beautifully layered kitchen complete with a hidden back kitchen we’re still swooning over. With cabinetry that closes to conceal it entirely, the space feels like a secret room—and honestly, who doesn’t want one?

The original kitchen, which had direct access to the garage, was repurposed into a hardworking laundry and mudroom filled with natural light and ample storage—proof that functional spaces deserve just as much attention as the main living areas.

From the moment you step through the front door and into the foyer, the new layout reveals itself in layers. You catch glimpses of the main living spaces to the right, but instead of one large open room, the house unfolds gradually. The living room connects to the kitchen through a generous cased opening, anchored by a double-sided fireplace that bridges the two spaces—polished and refined on the living room side, and left more rustic in the kitchen. The living room flows seamlessly into a dining nook, which then leads into the kitchen, creating a comfortable circular movement between the three spaces that feels natural and livable rather than overly open.

To the left of the entry, a jewel-box powder bath sets the tone with personality and intention. Beyond it, a hallway leads to the bedrooms and additional bathrooms. This guest bath had lived through several layers of DIY over the years, and the remodel was an opportunity to start fresh—infusing the space with texture, pattern, and color. It’s exactly the kind of room we love designing: small in scale, but big on impact, and the perfect space to surprise and delight guests.
