This primary bedroom and bathroom transformation turned a plain suite into a relaxing retreat filled with warmth, texture, and just the right amount of drama. The highlight of the entire project is the bathroom, where green velvet curtains and a classic clawfoot tub create a luxurious focal point.
Before the makeover, the master suite felt functional but uninspired. The bedroom had neutral walls, basic lighting, and dark furniture. The bathroom was ordinary with minimal character, and lighting that felt more practical than relaxing. Despite all of that, the space had great potential thanks to its generous layout and beautiful natural light.

The redesign started in the bedroom, where the goal was to create a calm and cozy atmosphere. Soft, warm paint replaced the stark walls, immediately making the room feel more inviting. The new bed became the centerpiece of the space, adding comfort and scale to the bed wall.

Texture played a major role in making the bedroom feel layered and comfortable. Linen bedding, a chunky knit throw, a soft area rug and a hangout space brought depth and warmth to the space. The final touch was swapping out the standard ceiling fan for a beautiful acrylic fan that adds a subtle hint of elegance without overwhelming the room. The result is a bedroom that feels serene and slightly luxurious.

While the bedroom is peaceful and inviting, the bathroom is where the transformation truly shines. The old tub was removed and replaced with a freestanding clawfoot tub, instantly giving the space a sense of timeless charm. Positioned near the window, the tub becomes the natural focal point of the room and creates the perfect spot for a long, relaxing soak.

What makes the space especially memorable, though, is the unexpected use of velvet curtains. Instead of standard bathroom blinds, rich velvet drapes frame the window behind the tub. The fabric introduces softness and depth, balancing the harder surfaces of tile and porcelain. Velvet might seem unusual for a bathroom, but when placed thoughtfully away from direct water exposure, it adds a dramatic, luxurious feel that elevates the entire space.

Before & After
To complete the look, brushed brass fixtures were chosen to bring warmth and contrast. Marble accents on the vanity and small decorative surfaces add a classic touch, while classic gold rimmed mirrors echo the timeless style of the clawfoot tub. Soft layered lighting ensures the bathroom feels relaxing in the evening, turning it into a true spa-like retreat.
